Mooresville, NC
-
Danny Popp came out victorious over Mark Stielow in a tightly contested Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational held November 5th in Pahrump, NV at the Spring Mountain Raceway. After a virtual tie in points after all the events, organizers had to go to their tie-breaker rule which was the fastest road course lap. Danny Popp had a slight advantage so he and his Corvette owned by Todd Rumpke were crowned champion.

The Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational takes place the first week of November after the SEMA show. The Detroit Speed Road Rally took place Friday afternoon with all of the contestants getting in their cars for a drive from Las Vegas to the Raceway. The Invitational also includes the BFGoodrich Hot Lap Challenge, the Ridetech Autocross Challenge, the Wilwood Brakes Speed Stop Challenge, and the Raybestos Performance and Design Challenge. And for the first time ever, fans were able to attend the event.

What started out as a beautiful morning quickly got heated up when the individual events started. Some of the best performance cars in the world competed at this event and every driver wanted to put their name on the overall trophy. This was, eventual winner, Danny Popp's first time to Spring
Mountain and he drove incredibly on the road course for not having any practice. There were also
many Detroit Speed Equipped vehicles out at the event including Mark Stielow's 2nd place finishing
1969 Red Devil Camaro, Brian Finch finishing near the top in Mark Turners 1969 Camaro, Wanda
Goldberg and her fully DSE Equipped 1970 Trans Am, Terry Neuville in his 1968 Camaro, Mark
Wetterau in his 1969 Camaro, and of course the Detroit Speed 1969 and 1970 Camaro Test Cars.

Kyle performed very well in the DSE 1970 Camaro Test Car finishing in the top half in all the
individual competitions. Stacy was thrilled to have her 1969 Camaro back on track and showed that by running great in all of the competitions as well.

This is a fantastic event put on by Optima, Stacy and Kyle hope to see DSE Equipped Camaros in this event for years to come.

See page 2 for images from the event.
