Mooresville, NC - Grueling, daunting, brutal. Those are only a small sample of words that could be used to describe the 2011 Score Baja 1000.  Resilient, determined, unshakable. Those would be a small sample of words used to describe Kyle Tucker and the rest of Team BFG and their #1009 car during the Baja 1000.

Team BFG put in a hard fought battle against the treacherous terrain of the Baja Peninsula but came up a bit short in their bid for the class 10 title. A blown engine which turned into an engine fire caused an early setback for the team that had such high expectations after a 2nd place finish in 2010. After replacing the engine, the string of tough luck didn't end there. Four broken CV joints, a broken upper shock mount combined with an unsympathetic course added to the difficulty facing the team. The one constant was the BFGoodrich tires, the team encountered no flat tires throughout the entire race! Not one person gave up, nobody sulked, they took what was put in front of them and made the best of a difficult situation. And when all was said and done, they had a nice 6th place finish to show for it.

"The 2011 Tecate SCORE BAJA 1000 has been claimed as one of the roughest/toughest in the 44 year history of the race. I am very proud of every member of TEAM BFG to finish the race, we had several mechanical setbacks including a blown motor at race mile 169.  The Wide Open chase crew changed the engine and got us back in the race, everyone from that point on drove a conservative race so we could at least conquer BAJA.  I appreciate the opportunity to race for BFG WAFFLE HOUSE!
and hope to once again go back and compete for a win.” Kyle Tucker stated. Kyle was able
to however save enough strength to keep his annual Baja post race tradition intact. Upon landing on US soil, find the closest waffle house and slam down some good 'ol greasy American food!

Detroit Speed would like to congratulate the entire BFG and Wide Open Team for their demanding battle with the Baja and we hope everybody gets some well deserved rest.
