Hundreds of cars line the property of Detroit Speed during the 2011 Open House.
Mooresville, NC - Daytime temps in the low 40's and a steady drizzle all day could not stop the 2011 Open House from being a tremendous success. Even as the rain grew heavier and the temperatures dipped lower, family, fans and customers came out by the hundreds to Detroit Speed for the annual Open House that takes place on the Friday night of Goodguys Charlotte.
People started cruising up around 3:00 PM and by the time you had a chance to blink the shop was packed. By the end of the night there were an estimated 150 street rods, hot rods, trucks, and
pro-touring machines filling the DSE parking lots and even the entire field to the right of the buildings.
Shane's Rib Shack got there right in time and provided a much needed hot meal for all who attended. With the cost of a plate only $5 dollars and 100% of the proceeds going to the Todd Gartshore Memorial Fund, Detroit Speed was able to raise a few thousand dollars that will be donated to the Victory Junction Gang Camp. While Shane's provided the hot food, our good friends at Southeastern Freight kept the coffee flowing and also provided all of the beverages for the event. Thanks to Shane's and Southeastern for all their help.
The 2011 Open House was a rousing success, thanks to all of our staff for the hard work that goes into putting this event on. We would also like to thank our fans and customers who braved the unseasonably cold, rainy weather to come out and take a look at what we love to do!
